Dear Kitchenaid,
In 2002 both of my sons, my oldest son's girlfriend and myself spent the better part of 6 weeks picking out the mixer we would give my youngest son's girlfriend for Christmas. We knew it had to be a Kitchen Aid, but so many to choose from!!! She was thrilled as she had wanted a Kitchen Aid for years but since she is a student she could barely afford her tuition and thought it was just a dream. She cried on Christmas morning when she opened the box!!!
Later, on Christmas Day she and I went to the kitchen and played every "game" we could think of. I fell in love with her mixer too!!!
This year at Christmas I asked her to bring her mixer with her from Tennessee, so I could fix some goodies that my hand mixer would never make. When they got home, there seemed to be an endless stream of problems getting the mixer from the other house to mine. Either it was there and no one had a key to the house or it was in the car with my youngest while he hurried to take his grad school tests.
Imagine my surprise when on Christmas morning I was opening my "gift" when I saw the Kitchen Aid logo. However the box had been opened and retaped so I didn't get excited as I thought they were just using her box from last year to house my gift!
When I finally got the box opened, you will not believe what I saw! Not only did my son and his future wife (note the promotion) save for a year to get me a Kitchen Aid exactly like her's, she spent weeks on the phone and finally found an artist that could do what she wanted. I have attached the web address so you can see what my beautiful family did to the basic (if a Kitchen Aid could ever be basic) mixer!!!
I now spend almost half my time sitting in the kitchen enjoying looking at the mixer and planning what to use it for next! (Volcano Cake for instance). It is such a beautiful sight to wake up to everyday. The motif for the mixer is based upon my youngest son's being commissioned as a 2nd LT. in the Army this past May after 13 years as an enlisted and non-com. We are all very patroitic here as you will see.
If anyone else wants to have a mixer or other kitchen appliance done for their loved ones, I highly recommend this man. After all, the first 29 companies my girl called laughed at her but George is the man!!! My mixer is truly a work of art and one of a kind!!!!

Thanks so much for the picture, Phyllis;that is one beautiful mixer. My husband and I both love it. Tell George he is a fantastic artist!

Makes me think seriously about "customizing" the older KA Santa just brought. But of course, then I'd have to part with it long enough to have it done. And after 30 years of wanting one, I'm not sure I can be without it even for that short time. These things spoil you! ;-)

That mixer is awesome! My boyfriend got me a red one, as red is my favorite color and the color of my kitchen in my small apartment. I told him that if we get married, he has to let me have a red kitchen (he hates red!) since he bought me the red mixer. Congrats!

A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

What a great family! I wouldn't trade my MIL for anything, and I feel positive your soon to be DIL feels the same way.

Thanks for a doubly-touching story. I teared up reading about your DIL crying when she opened her Christmas present. Life can be so sweet.

Your mixer has to be one of the best Christmas presents I've ever heard of, and it is GORGEOUS! You must be so proud of your family! I hope you have lots of grandchildren, I want more people like your family born!
